Undoubtedly, the simplest and most delicious frosting you’ll ever make!
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Variations & Tips
For a fun twist, you can add a teaspoon of almond extract for a nutty flavor. If you’re baking for chocolate lovers, fold in a cup of mini chocolate chips into the batter. For a citrusy note, add the zest of one lemon or orange. You can also make this recipe into cupcakes by dividing the batter into a lined muffin tin and baking for 18-20 minutes.
