A Quick and Simple Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients You’ll Need

To create this streamlined version of tiramisu, gather the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup of strong espresso or coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of mascarpone cheese
  • 1 pack of ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Optional: chocolate shavings or a dusting of cinnamon

Step-by-Step Preparation

Brew the Coffee: Start by brewing a cup of strong espresso or coffee. Allow it to cool to room temperature. The coffee’s strength is crucial as it will impart the distinctive flavor that tiramisu is known for.

Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese and sugar, blending until smooth. Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract for an enhanced depth of flavor. Next, whip the heavy cream separately until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture. This creates a light yet rich filling for your tiramisu.

Soak the Ladyfingers: Pour the cooled coffee into a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, ensuring they are saturated but not soggy. This step is essential to achieving the perfect texture and flavor balance.

Assemble the Tiramisu: In a serving dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over this layer, smoothing it with a spatula. Repeat the process with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Finishing Touches: Dust the top with cocoa powder for a classic tiramisu finish. If desired, add chocolate shavings or a sprinkle of cinnamon for a personalized touch.

Chill and Serve: Although this tiramisu can be enjoyed immediately, allowing it to chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour enhances the flavors. The extended chilling time helps the ingredients meld together, resulting in a more cohesive and flavorful dessert.
