Some foods are more vulnerable to contamination. Salmonella is often found in raw meat, raw eggs, fresh vegetables, fruits, or herbs. It can even show up in unexpected items like chocolate, due to contamination during processing.

E. coli is most commonly found in raw meat (including minced meat like filet américain), raw vegetables like lettuce and sprouts, raw milk, and uncooked dough or batter.

Also pay attention to the temperature distribution in your refrigerator

For optimal food safety, store meat and fish at the bottom of the fridge, as this is typically the coldest area. This also prevents juices from leaking onto other foods. Some fridges even have a dedicated compartment for meat and fish to keep them at the proper temperature.

By keeping your fridge at the right temperature and being mindful of where you store your food, you can help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and keep your meals safe for everyone.
