A Healthy Lunula
Appearance: A healthy lunula is typically pale white and crescent-shaped. It should cover about one-quarter of the nail.
Health Significance: If your lunula looks healthy, it generally indicates that your circulation is good, and your overall health is in a stable state. You’re likely getting adequate oxygen and nutrients in your bloodstream, and your body is functioning well.
A Small or Missing Lunula
Appearance: Some people have small lunulas, while others may have none visible at all. In some cases, the lunula may be hidden beneath the nail fold.
Health Significance: A smaller lunula or the absence of it can sometimes indicate a deficiency in essential nutrients like iron or B12, or it could signal poor circulation. It may also be a sign of fatigue or stress.
