Simple Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet
Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if needed.
Step 2: Sauté the Onion and Garlic
Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the ground beef and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 3: Add the Cabbage
Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage begins to soften.
Step 4: Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), paprika, dried thyme, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Reduce the heat to medium and let the mixture simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
Step 5: Serve
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve the Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
