I just can’t stop making these treats – it’s the third night in a row!
Directions
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Pipe strips of dough into hot oil using a pastry bag. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Variations & Tips
For a fun twist, try adding a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of vanilla extract to the dough for extra flavor. If you have picky eaters, consider serving churros with a variety of dipping sauces like caramel or strawberry sauce. For a healthier option, you can bake the churros instead of frying them, though they may not have the same crispy texture. To do this, pipe the dough onto a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
