Instructions:
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan and set aside.
- Cream Butter & Sugar: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Layer the Dough: Press two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Add Cherry Filling: Spread the cherry pie filling in an even layer over the dough.
- Top with Remaining Dough: Crumble the remaining dough over the cherry layer.
- Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Cool & Slice: Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
