Spread the love
This sweet and savory glazed chicken is a delightful dish that brings together the best of both worlds: a hint of sweetness with a savory depth that’s sure to please the whole family. Originating from a blend of Asian-inspired flavors, this dish is perfect for those evenings when you want something a little special but still comforting. It’s a great way to introduce new flavors to your family, and it’s simple enough to make on a busy weeknight.
This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of steamed jasmine rice or fluffy mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious sauce. For a bit of color and crunch, consider serving it alongside a fresh green salad or some lightly sautéed green beans. A sprinkle of sesame seeds over the chicken adds a nice touch, and a wedge of lime on the side can brighten up the flavors even more.
Sweet and Savory Glazed Chicken
Servings: 4

Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup chopped green onions for garnish
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
3. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
5. Heat vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
7. While the chicken is baking, prepare the glaze by combining soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
8. Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and pour the glaze over the top.
9. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs. If you prefer a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the glaze. For a more citrusy flavor, add the zest of one lime to the glaze. You can also try using chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier result. If you have picky eaters, serve the glaze on the side so everyone can control how much they want.
