5 Types of Meat You Should Avoid Buying

always check its freshness and quality. One key indicator is elasticity—press the meat gently with your finger. If the indentation remains and doesn’t spring back, the meat is likely spoiled and unsafe to eat.

Here are five types of meat you should never buy:

1. Meat with No Elasticity

Fresh meat should bounce back when pressed. If it stays dented, it has likely been stored for too long and may be rotting. Consuming such meat can lead to foodborne illnesses.

2. Water-Injected Meat

Some sellers inject water into meat to increase weight and make it appear fresher. Signs of water-injected meat include:

  • An unusually heavy feel
  • A wet, slippery surface
  • Water seeping out when pressed
  • A mushy or overly soft texture

Additionally, sellers may place a towel nearby to absorb excess moisture. Avoid this meat, as it spoils faster and may contain harmful bacteria.
